Wine Barrel Aged Belgian Tripel

We aged this Belgian Tripel for 10 months in oak barrels from Lost Mountain Vineyards in Delaplane, Virginia. The barrel, previously housing cabernet sauvignon, endowed bold notes of black currants, oak, and vanilla in addition to the classic Belgian Tripel profile of spicy, fruity and alcohol notes, supported by a soft, rounded sweet malt impression, and a very light honey nose. The barrel served to balance its fruity, citric esters with more earthy undertones.
